Self Employment Program
Phase 1 - Assessment

During Phase 1 of the Self Employment Program, the following activities will take place:

  • Referral to SE Orientation from your Employment Counsellor
  • Participation in a series of e-Learning workshops for Orientation as well as an on-line Suitability Questionnaire
  • Complete on-line Suitability Questionnaire

A written assessment of suitability will be sent to you and your employment counsellor indicating one of the following next steps:

  • Business idea is eligible for further development
  • Business idea is ineligible for development
  • A written assessment of suitability will be sent to you and your employment counsellor indicating one of the following next steps:

If your Business idea is eligible for further assistance you will:

  • Participate in another series of e-Learning workshops to further develop your business idea
  • Complete the on-line Business Concept
  • A written assessment of suitability will be sent to you and your employment counsellor indicating support of an application for the SE Program or, a referral back to work with your employment counselor

For those that are supported, you will complete all application documents and take them to the meeting with your employment counselor.

Applications can take approximately 3 weeks for approval.

Upon approval from EPBC (Employment Program of BC), you will enter into Phase 2 of the Self Employment Program. At this point, the 48 week program begins.
